REFLECTIONS

By Diane McNeil

Greetings from the Campus Ministry Center!
This newsletter is a long time coming but better late than never I say.  Many folks are busy in the area of campus ministry and that is very exciting.  It's been a year of finding folks, having conversation and figuring out what would be the best help for all. After much information gathering this seemed the best vehicle for sharing information.  I'm so thrilled to be serving with all of you in ministry to students/YA's.  Our numbers are increasing and that emphasizes the importance of establishing a collegial support network.  Many thanks to Kelly Phipps for connecting us by linking our websites to the world church website.
Yes, Campus ministry is 'real' ministry contrary to some opinions.  Some don't comprehend that ministry isn't only defined in the context of the local church setting.  In our world that is diverse, multi-cultural, and multifaith, 'real' ministry means dialoguing, sharing, praying, being in fellowship with each other.  This happens in a number of venues, one of which can be the church setting.  But let's not limit our association to that one hour a week.  Let's be challenged on a daily basis to be out there learning from one another, sharing the 'good news', listening , walking the path of the disciple together in all opportunities presented.  A campus environment offers a rich opportunity to live out our call to be change agents and in the process gain a better understanding of the who our neighbors are and how we can love them.
Let us use the first line of a now beloved song as our daily prayer: "Lord Jesus you shall be my song as I journey."

God's blessings on the journey!
